Yay!
After seeing this pin for DIY coupon holders (by Erin at Taking Time to Create),
I decided to give it a try…
:: :: ::
The first thing I did was to measure out my grid…
I used a baseball card sleeve that I currently have in my coupon binder as a template…
:: :: ::
Then I just slid it into a clear sheet protector…
:: :: ::
Next I slid the page under the needle on my sewing machine and followed the lines!
Make sure to backstitch each end to make sure that you’re stitches don’t come out!
:: :: ::
Almost done!
With a very light touch, carefully slide an exacto knife’s blade
just under the first row of horizontal stitches, being careful not to cut into the stitching…
Be sure to flip it over & do the backside too…
The bonus in
DIY-ing these coupon holders is that they are double-sided!
:: :: ::
So simple!
I would have never thought to use my sewing machine to do a project like this…
but in the space of about 20 minutes,
I had five, new, double-sided coupon sleeves!
And for about half the price of store-bought baseball card sleeves :’)

What a great idea!
Thank you!
That is a great idea! I spent weeks trying to find baseball card sheets locally and finally had to drive over an hour away from my home to buy them! I won’t be doing that anymore! Thank you
Yay! So glad to hear that I was able to help :’)

cool! what stitch length did you use? I’m wondering if the plastic would tear after just a little use.
Hi Denise, the settings on my sewing machine were: 1 for Width & 2 for Length. A far as the durability goes, we will have to wait and see! Compared to my baseball card holders, they feel just as strong to me. Thanks for the comments :’)
I haven’t seen this idea in awhile. Thank you for the reminder. I used to make these in photo sizes. I am now following you on Pinterest!
Thanks for following me on Pinterest Darci!
I made mine last year using grid paper so it’s easier to see the white coupon edges. Sometimes with the white paper, everything blends in. They have been a great money saver, and I made mine with 2 across and 3 down for bigger pockets to better fit my coupons. It was a lifesaver! Good luck
Great ideas Jena, thank you!

Yay! That’s why I put up the post – it was so simple & could save us all lots of $$!!!

You’re welcome Nancy :’)
Hi Nancy,
Do you still looking for coupon sleeves?
What a neat idea. So simple, yet I would not have thought to do this on my own… I have just gotten into this, coupons in sleeves things and I went to Wal-Mart the other day to get me some sleeves and they were out. Guess it was the Lord’s way of saving me some money, cause he knew I was going to find this site and could make my own. I have the clear page protectors already. Thank you so much.
You gotta love it when God steps in, even in the small things!
Yay! You gotta love it when God steps in, even in the small things!
I have also done this with scrapbooking page protectors for the page borders you can buy.
Great idea Susan!
