December 2012 Wrap Up!

IMG_1260

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you all!

I’m sure you & your family are just as exhausted as me & mine

from all of our holiday celebrations and fair share of illnesses!

I am on the {very, very} slow road to recovery from bronchitis & pneumonia…

I wouldn’t recommend it, but I am thankful that the worse of it didn’t hit until after Christmas!

~~~~~
DECEMBER 2012 WRAP UP!
I decided to do a December Wrap Up post to bring you up-to-date all at once!
I’m trying out a new way of editing photos that I’ve taken with my iPhone
so please feel free to let me know what you think :’)
After scouring the internet for the best iPhone apps & then test driving a few out,
here are the ones I used:
{thank you to Shelley from The House of Smiths for her great advice found here}
1.  Pic Frame
Screen Shot 2012-12-30 at 7.43.59 PM
This app is very user-friendly & two of my favorite features are:
*The option to add text {labels} to my collages and
*The ability to save & export my creations to my phone & several sites such as Twitter, Flicker, Instagram,
as well as the ability to email them!
It’s definitely an app to check out as it’s only 99 cents…
2. Instagram
Next, I uploaded my collages to Instagram, where I chose my favorite effect….again, easy~peasy!
I present to you Deb’s Heart & Home December Wrap up!
My poor hubby spent the better part of two days cleaning out drains that were clogged by tree roots…
Check out his home-made root cutter with mega-long extension pole!
IMG_0459
My parents made the long trek down from Lodi to spend a whole week with us!
They live on 5 acres, out in the country, thus the need for a sqiurrel trap!
IMG_0460
We decided to bring our traditional drive-around-and-look-at-the-lights adventure up a notch
and wound up at the Riverside Festival of Lights ~ so beautiful!
IMG_0461
On Christmas Eve we went to an afternoon Candlelight Service at my in-laws church
and then spent the evening at their beautiful home…
Christmas Day was spent in our home & my honey smoked a yummy ham!
IMG_0462
We did a little after Christmas shopping with my folks & kids
and enjoyed some yummy appetizers at Yard House while sitting on the patio by the fire :’)
IMG_0463
On our last family adventure the whole clan spent the afternoon in Old Town Temecula…
The weather was absolutely beautiful!  Crisp & cool…perfect window shopping weather!
Today has been cold & rainy so I’ve been snuggled up inside
enjoying the fire in the fireplace, as I edit pictures and finally update my blog!!
Goodnight for now,
Deb :’)
iPhone Apps I Love ~ Part One
apple.com
::   ::   ::
Since purchasing my very first iPhone last October,
I have found some really awesome & very helpful apps…
I thought I would share a few of my favorites.
I have so many that I’m going to divide it into two posts
to make it a little easier to digest…
::   ::   ::
Shopping/Eating Out:
Key Ring
“Key Ring is the app that “brings ‘em all together”.
Use it to scan & store your existing loyalty cards, enroll in new loyalty programs,
and access exclusive coupons and discounts.”
Starbucks
I use this app to register my gift cards…just hand your phone to the cashier
instead of carrying around gift cards!
It also has a store locator that includes directions…
::   ::   ::
Social:
Facebook
Twitter
Pinterest -
Flipboard My hubby just turned me on to this fun app! From iTunes Preview: “Named Apple’s iPad App of the year and one of TIME’s Top 50 Innovations, Flipboard creates a personalized magazine out of everything being shared with you, from Instagram photos and Facebook updates to Tumblr posts and articles from your favorite publications. Fill Flipboard with the things you like to read, from the smallest blogs to publications like Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair, and use Instapaper or Read It Later to save articles to read later. Connect Flipboard to all your social networks, and you’ll have a single place to enjoy, browse, comment on and share all the news, photos and updates that matter to you.” ::   ::   ::
Productivity:
Evernote
 You can save any type of files including PDF’s in this app.
I keep all of our family’s schedules, important documents & notes with me.
This app has come in handy so many times!
You can also email documents from Evernote.
JotNot Scanner Pro
“JotNot is the original and premier multi-page document scanner for the iPhone.”
You can scan photos or documents with the camera on your iPhone
and save them in Evernote.
This app has also been a lifesaver when I’ve needed to save a copy
of a document but didn’t have access to a printer.
RedLaser
 ”Scan with RedLaser and compare prices of products online and in store.
RedLaser searches for the best prices with TheFind,
Google Product Search, eBay, and Half.com.”
::   ::   ::
Finances:
AceBudget2
You start by setting your budget goals for income and expenses.
Then anytime you spend money or receive an income,
you just simply enter it into the app.
Ace Budget will track how well you are doing
and will let you know if you are overspending so you can adjust accordingly.
Bank of America
 If you do your banking at Bank of America you need this app!
You can not only check your account balances but you can also transfer funds
and pay your bills from your phone!
I::   ::   ::
I hope you’ve enjoyed scanning through my favorites
and have possibly found some new apps for your iPhone!
Stay tuned for Part Two…
My Favorite iPhone Christmas List App!
I absolutely love the Christmas List app for the iPhone created by Limbua
  I downloaded mine for free!
The first thing you will want to do is to set a password…
to keep those sneaky eyes from peeking!
On this page you can see the budget that you’ve set for each person…You can organize people into groups…I did one for our immediate family, one for Grandparents & one for my Sis & Brother-In-Law’s family….
Here is  a look at the “Family” group where you can see the individual lists.  You can choose a pre-loaded picture for each person or upload your own.
On this page you can keep track of all the info you need
for each individual gift:
Name of the item, store(s) it can be found out, price
and even a photo of the gift.
The Christmas List is pre-loaded with the most popular retailer,
but if you need to you can always add your own too.
You can also switch to “Store View” so that you can get a complete gift list
for each store – awesome!
On the “Group” summaries page you can check to see how much you’re spending
on each group or individual…
Are you sold yet???  And did I mention that it’s FREE!!!!
If this wasn’t already an amazing app, they also give you the option to email your list
or even post it on Facebook!!
